- why i want to - Social activity but still dependent on solo skill - one of the only times i probably could go bouldering - good upper body - have group of people to do it with - somewhat close to work? - why do i like bouldering - work on forearms - more physical activity - physical connection - why i don't want to - takes away from other hobbies I have (gaming, reading, content creation, freeskating) - can freeskate on the way there - price - 150 for shoes, 20 for chalk, $25 each time alskdjalskdjasljkd - time commitment - 5:30pm - 6:15pm get there - 8:15pm go home - 9pm eat, shower - 10pm tasks - 11pm done [[Bouldering shoes]] ## Learning The Self-Coached Climber ### Progression 1. learn precision on foot placement & how to weight your feet 2. learn how body position & center of gravity affects holds and feet 3. actively practice climbing straight on vs with a hip twist; statically vs dynamically; both feet on vs flagged; CoG low vs high & do this on varied terrain and hold types. 4. climb lots of terrain at your onsight level or just below in as many styles you can, repeating problems you’ve done “perfectly” or with radically different ways. 5. visualize how a new climb might be optimally climbed & test if you got it right 6. look at how others, particularly experienced climbers, climb your climbs & “try on” their movements to see if they work for you ## Warmup Play quiet feet and sticky feet during warmup. Quiet feet- place feet as quietly as possible without making noise. If it does, move back and do the move again. Sticky feet- no moving feet at all once placed on a hold. If you move the foot, start over. Do these on grades 1-2 below your max. ## Practicing technique try climbing easier stuff that you know you can do but focus on doing it flawlessly and with perfect technique. ## Chalk Type - Wash hands before climbing - liquid chalk can be used as base - have solid chunk in bag so you don't have to deal with loose chalk ## Subscription 1/week on the punch pass is good for now
