> To upload your second brain, you need to well, have one. If you have yet to get started with Obsidian, I recommend checking out [[My indoctrination sequence]]
The following steps were roughly what I had to do when doing my [[Digital Garden Obsidian Publish Revamp]]
## Steps to create your own digital garden
### Purchase Obsidian Publish
Self-explanatory 😅 You can do this + set it up by following their [onboarding steps](https://help.obsidian.md/Obsidian+Publish/Set+up+Obsidian+Publish).
If you don't want to pay, you can consider trying the [[Obsidian Digital Garden Plugin]], but it's more technically inclined and I personally could not use it anymore once I hit 2500ish notes.
If you want to have dynamically updating displays of your notes, you can [[Render Obsidian Dataview Queries in Obsidian Publish]]
### Make it visitor friendly
Personal knowledge management systems are personally tailored by default so its important to.
I personally made my notes more readable by having some context and linking to related resources for my different main topics like [[Personal Knowledge Management]], and by outlining how my vault is structured in [[My Digital Galaxy]] and [[My Home]]
#### Create an onboarding sequence
To give people an overview once they visit your digital garden for the first time or are visiting from a note you shared, I recommend having a welcome page and an onboarding sequence.
In my case, it would be the notes I have in my "000 Digital Garden" folder. These include notes to give information like:
- insight into what a digital garden is
- what my purpose your personal digital garden serves
- what to expect from your digital garden
- share a little bit about you
- include paths or suggestions on starting points for navigating
- I would recommend visiting other digital gardens to find inspiration on your own personal structure. I was inspired by the following ones:
- [Aidan Helfant](https://publish.obsidian.md/aidanhelfant/%F0%9F%91%8BHi%2C+I'm+Aidan+Helfant)
- [Nicole Van Der Hoeven](https://notes.nicolevanderhoeven.com/Fork+My+Brain)
- [Yomaru Dev](https://yomaru.dev/home)
### Add theme
To officially make it your corner in the internet, you can learn how to [add a theme](https://www.santiyounger.com/blog/obsidian-publish-customize-your-notes-with-a-community-theme) and make it pretty ;)
