Within galaxies lies an unseen domain: the **interstellar medium**. The cosmic space that exists between the stars. In our digital galaxy, our interstellar medium is where we *cultivate and nurture our ideas allowing them to grow, evolve, and orbit freely*. The interstellar medium of my digital galaxy helps me with the three following use cases - Learning - Focus is on conceptual [[Understanding]] of ideas - Think about the zettelkasten method and [[Progression of idea originality]] where you go from external sources like books, to your own understandings in the form of conceptual notes - Helps me cultivate [[Wisdom]] by spending time understanding the world - Creativity - Focusing on generating new insights through my personal interpretations and synthesis of my [[Inputs]] into the system - Productivity - Focus is on efficiency in managing and [[Retrieving information from your notes]] so you can complete concrete objectives and maintain ongoing responsibilities. This allows for some beautiful phenomenon to happen: - **Constellations** can emerge, connecting individual ideas into a unified whole that illustrates [[Higher-order thinking]] and entity in our galaxies. - This is what the [[Linking Your Thinking]] philosophy refers to as [[Idea Emergence]]. - Our ideas can collide to create a **supernova**, a sudden flash of insight and inspiration that vibrantly spreads into the rest of the galaxy. It is in this space where we protect ourselves from the dangers of the digital universe: - **Interstellar magnetic fields:** In our own medium, we are free from the gravitational pull of other digital galaxies and their magnetic fields. Addictive [[Social Media Algorithms]] corrupting and disrupting the harmony of our ideas and [[Influencers downplay critical thought|influencers imposing beliefs onto you]], downplaying the need for critical thought. - **Information overwhelm:** When exploring the endless amount of other stars in the universe, we need a manageable space where we can focus on the signal instead of the noise. With this inner tranquility, we can shift from a headspace of survival to one of growth, giving us a chance to nurture our ideas through [[Note-making]]. Can also just have rules/principles that allow for some affordances - Define what needs to be done and can have nested procedures are available for use - ex) Communication protocols between spacecraft and ground control, safety protocols, or data transmission protocols.
