The paradox of enrolling in education about learning to enjoy something you are already passionate about (example being a class on music appreciation)
If you already do appreciate music then you'll get in the class because you find it interesting, but if you already appreciate it then there's no point in taking it because you already hold a similar belief.
But to overcome existential entrapment when we are not already intrinsically interested in something (see [[Paradox of self-improvement]], we need to adopt symbolic enactment by having a value of wanting to engage in music appreciation until we value it in its own way, through [[Aspiration]], wondering.
A liberal education is useless for people who want to control and educate you, because it makes you a better self through [[Transframing]].
One with a liberal arts education is akin to someone who wants to appreciate music. We learn to understand and appreciate.
How can I get to like something I have an inkling for? Taste.
