> [!example] > [[My Input Collections]] ## Why I had no place to keep track of the related [[Inputs]] notes from the 50 episode video series [[Awakening from the meaning crisis]]. Yes they were still accessible in [[My Inputs]] view, but I wanted a dedicated space where I could manage the notes and inputs specifically from this. ## What An input collection is, as the name suggests, a group of inputs. These can include (but are not limited to): - An online course you're taking - A newsletter you're subscribed to and frequently get highlights from - A podcast you follow Due to the different use cases of each user using this template, I've kept it generic as a collection. If you want examples, you can look at mine ## How When making a new input, you can fill out the `Collection` field, which will auto-suggest all input collections in the vault. https://publish.obsidian.md/johnmavrick/My+Inputs/My+Input+Collections/My+Input+Collections ### Structure #### All Inputs Simply sorted by alphabetical order #### By Status Sorted based on [[My metadata philosophy#Status]] ### Creating more input collections Right now I just have an option in [[My Input Collections]] to view your collections by type by creating subtags like `#inputCollection/course` and `#inputCollection/podcast`. If you feel the queries are starting to be too big, you can start making dedicated [[Note types]] for each collection subtype. Feel free to do something similar to [[My Inputs]] where you break it down into further notes like [[My Videos]].
