Alt + (backquote): Switch from entering just letters like these to kana like this: γγͺ. if you type "kana" when the symbol on the taskbar is an "A" it will just be "kana" but if the symbol is γ then it will become "γγͺ"
Space: Conversion. When you want to type a kanji, you have to type its reading, and then use space to convert it. Due to Japanese'sβ¦ japanesesiness, there are multiple conversion candidates for the kana you entered. Let's try a word you probably just learned, like θ¨γ. To type that in kanji you have to switch to kana input mode (the γ symbol) and type γγ, then press space until θ¨γ is selected, and then pressΒ Enter. If you want to enter kana without converting, just type what you want and press enter.
F7: Katakana conversion
