## Thoughts ### Reviews > It basically mixes that cute girl anime aesthetic with the body language of real life actors and it does have a big impact on the story - Want to watch it for inspiration for my Warudo stuff - Enjoyed emotional expression, high frame-rate, lighting, and care put into it ### Per Episodes #### EP1 - actual school dropout pursuing their dreams lets goo - damn this animation is actually insanely smooth damn - holy fuck this op already sounds fire - i guess the key to not watching in 2x is just to really really appreciate the medium - the fluidity is so nice wtf - I just love how they illustrate emotions with effects - Getting to meet a role model that inspired you to change - bro how long does it take to set up these scenes wtf - i like the mix of what i perceive as 2d and 3d to make it easier tho ? - LMAOOO I WAS NOT EXPECTING THE MIDDLE FINGER THING TO COME BACK - Damn a parallel story of dropping out at a young age - The harsh truth of being an artist, the conflict is an existential one? - Holy fuck the movement and expressions are so expressive with the physics - LMAO already talking about capitalism - Constantly saying that she doesn't feel heard - Not a dream but just the feeling of not belonging - it's joever lmaoooooo - that was a powerful last scene, already knew what to expect but then seeing the song be played and marking the start of this adventure made me tear up significantly - ! people love anime because of stories. if you're going at it from a purely productive standpoint then you're missing the entire point. #### EP2 - First time actually enjoying the comedy in an anime in a while haha - omg i just love this slice of life, relatable for loneliness lol - damn the ptsd is that strong? i wonder what makes her act that way - WHAT THE FUCK are these out of pocket scenes alkdjaskldjadlkjads - no wayyyy she's still using it - the self-deprecation and low esteem - they're just constantly supporting her and helping her out - so this is what appreciating CGDCT is like - I'm so tempted to binge until i go to bed aaaa - Discussion - How did i miss the inability for conditional love because of poor familal relationships which then bled - LMAO i love how people even attribute a good singer to bottled up emotions and stories #### EP3 - actually has adhd - lmaoo the composing proves it - what is MC's reasoning for avoiding her? still learning to accept people's kindness as an avoidant? - why is forgetting phones such a recurring theme alskdjaldkjad - interesting, subaru has an opposite dilemma of being forced on a path - yay glad they were able to somewhat get closer just by being vulnerable to eac hother - i love how animated the door closing is, so iconic - the slow mo and liveliness was mesmerizing - no way i didn't even realize the fucking food workers were the new members - guitarist is an actual motherly figure, working and doing all the emotional support and encouragement to get it to work out - a real walking paradox - using her feelings to her advantage - crazy how they use the microphone as an amplified version - LMAOO that outfit is so foul aslkdjaldkjakdslj - Really got her anger out wit hit LMAO - Almost teared up, curious about the meaning behind the lyrics - Discussion - Emphasizing her actually being a paradox - Being annoying but likeable - The way the person put it, is it just likeable because of environment because she's actually getting the right support from momoka? #### EP4 - love the way character backstory and development is introduced - wow i like how the acting scenario parallels their situation… - interesting how subaru's backstory is not to fulfill missed dreams, but to continue a legacy, and she's okay with it - uh oh the grandma actually believes in her enjoying acting noooo - i love the angst - what the fuck is this dialogue - Discussion - > There's something so realistic about how flawed Nina is, and especially the way the show embraces that in a positive way. Teaching us that even if you have your own flaws, they're still part of who you are - A realistic slice of life with the way interpersonal conflicts are handled - Really appreciating the facial expressions - I agree - it's crazy to see how expressive they are, can use as inspiration for mine #### EP5 - Huge respect for momoka shouldering the responsibilities and supporting her - momoka didn't want to fall into trends? - LMAOOO i love subaru's persuasion + sales perpsective - NO WAY IT WAS HER BULLY???? - wait why is the translation "i can't fuck her anymore" what - crazy how they just quarrel like this in public bruh - sensitive topic for her because she was the one who broke the cohesive dream? - 16:53 interesting mix of 3d and 2d damn - this affirmation is crazyyyy, her genuine belief and prep just to put on a HELL of a show is impressive - Discussion - > the vocalist is a mood-swinging gremlin, the guitarist is a depressed drunkard, and the drummer is a flame-fanning two-face.  But that's exactly why they're the best character ensemble of this anime season - a fun way to explore the effects of different perspectives - I do like the authenticity and flawedness of the character design, not a completely optimistic anime because of it and highlights the scrappiness of a plan like this - The flaws in characters reminds me of why i liked scums wish so much - relatable - > There's something really special about an anime whose core theme is "exposing yourself", even if it may be ugly. Being able to recognize that we are all flawed, we are all guilty of making mistakes, but we should still embrace that because it makes us who we are. Loved Nina's speech leading up to the show at the end telling herself to embrace every part of herself, even those she hates. Makes me want to start doing that more myself too. This anime is honestly an inspiration, it's gonna stick with me. - Always so cool when shows inspire profound transformations. i like how they've explored it in different ways with momoka showcasing she was the selfish villain in the band, nina was #### EP6 - Yay they finally appear - So they already have their own stuff? who's beni-shouga? i like how they are their own bundle as well and are grinding in the night time - i'm going to cry if they actually perform at this theater in the op - just seeing such elaborate one-off scenes is crazy - why is she surpressing what momoka wants to do? - Hehe nina starting to commit and actually want to know how to make it feasible - lmaooo really trying to push the agenda, i like ho they're trying to meta it - that's such an unexpected introduction ahaha - so cool how they're bonding over authenticity and being unique - lighting in the budokan scene is so good - no way there's cross lore wow, everyone just recognizes each other, the loli and the grandma 💀 - wow the way she just stands there in awe… #### EP8 - damn she was so ambitious prior - I just love the dialogue in this episode wtf - The tension between the two characters - The slow reveal of everything panning out - She's actually full committing wtf, what gives her so much confidence to cut off ties? - oh nvm she's working damn, choosing to do that instead of study - Challenging the reality of having to cater to trends - Quite relevant damn - Being a realist when it comes to surviving in this niche - Momoka was interested in Nina because she wasn't tainted by survival, a shell of her former self, not to actually start a band? - holy fuck the tension is not fake - wow the back story of that song is CRAZY - holy fuck momoka is still ruthless they're actually such fucks - damn i love how the tension got transferred into the official declaration of this rivalry - WHAT she didn't say anything????? - holy fuck i actually started tearing up after, that was so unexpected and so sudden - could we have known? no? wtf is the legal age in japan? - So cool to see people kind of re-enact their previous coping behaviors - So momoka has avoidant attachment for bands - Discussion - Interesting growth theory, being unique is what helps you overcome the plateau effect #### EP9 - Tomo is conflict avoidant because of past experiences? was that why they left? - LMAOO subaru just lives in bliss - genuine conflict that needs to be realistically resolved - Why does Tomo not take people's drive as seriously? Rupa is the one to help her be optimistic - Character development always comes in the form of toxicity 💀 - omg the conflict actually went full circle i didn't even notice - not capped by a fixed mindset #### EP10 - Wow the guilt tripping for pursuing her passions - Resonate with the obedience - wow everyone's stunted with nina - that was really heartfelt and was really nice to see the development - wow, actual asian unsaid love - Wow the indirect strengthening of their relationship is crazy - i love this writing so much - Discussion - Just amplifying the impact the discussions had on the people - dad quitting smoking, trying to listen to daughter's favorite song aww - appreciating the VA for nina having to voice someone so emotionally complex haha #### EP11 - NO WAY oh okay i thought she was actually goign to play guitar to 1v1 her LMAO - nina with the honest talk coming in clutch - wait wtf is this - holy fk i cried so hard the entire time, everything coming together - story - meaning of the song and its significance - the animation just being beautiful - wow - even the mini flashes of everyone part of this story - discussion - > One of the themes of the show is about not selling out to big corporations and carving your own path through the industry. You could almost say that Girls Band Cry's success this season despite not being picked up by any big streaming services is very much in line with the show lol - rupa's 2 second flashback was very powerful despite the buildup - so nice to hear people resonate with nina's message, giving justice in both an artistic and a personal sense through the band and her own personal growth - [This breakdown is insane](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1dg2l4a/comment/l8okppb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) - [Eye shots](https://files.catbox.moe/9e2a0r.png) - The intentionality of Nina's red thorns is crazy - > Nina grew "thorns" when she saw Hina in both episode 5 and 11. However the anatomy of the thorns are different: in episode 5 they appeared as [entangled mess](https://files.catbox.moe/l5nh74.png) shrouding herself; in [this episode](https://files.catbox.moe/jjrqj1.png) they appeared as [controlled stream](https://files.catbox.moe/pf9g42.png) pointing up to the sky. This clearly indicates her state of mind. #### EP12 - Subaru is such a troll LMAOOOO - the ego surfing has already started alskdjasldkjasd - I love hearing their OST in the background - The anxiety from all the pressure, Nina, always being there to provide home - Aww I love how even the mixer is supportive and thoughtful - Of course they flop alkdjalskdja i wonder how this affects their final ep ? #### EP13 - bruh i thought 12 was the last - so they had moral conflict hence the beef? - listened to her for what? - what is hina's motives? - the moral compass is just through the roof - no way that hina plot twist holy fuckkkk, i mean it makes sense that all of DD has a special place for their songs, they just had to survive - really amplifies the meaning behind the cry part of the band title - i love how it transitions into the irl band - so cool to finally have closure for nina's ptsd - discussion - > rock is for the underdogs - > It's not some magical song that went viral because plot, she stayed true to herself but ended up with a song that just wasn't the kind of thing that gets popular. - this is the author's philosophy for being an artist, and it's very nice food for thought for my current situation. Really reminds me of contrarian movements like the youtube new wave - ofc it's similar to a place further than the universe, i was thinking about the premise of the anime when watching this - Really enjoy the ending. it was realistic in terms of performance, but it was still a good ending as both parties got to do what they wanted to. i'm very curious to hear how it ends up since they withdrew to be solo, will everyone have to get jobs again LMAO ### Rating ### Personal Significance - their story to overlook an agency so they can stay independent and true to themselves is genuinely inspiring and relevant for my current situation. the courage to stay as the underdog ### Thoughts rupa losr family loli self sufficient, passionate dropout 100 ways is crazy thats the fame when you make your passion your livelihood ### Themes ### Memorable Scenes ### What I enjoyed ### What I disliked ### Similar
