## Brainstorming
### Topic
%%What is the big idea you're thinking about? Why are you writing this? %%
### References
%%Are there any existing notes, resources, or experiences that come to mind related to the topic? For each thing, why is it related and how can it be helpful? %%
### Brain Dump
%%
Write out any other thoughts that come to mind, then create a cognitive scaffolding that combines your references and brain dump.
Break it down into branches and sub-ideas for further elaboration %%
- how to present3
- intro should be slides ?
- ! Each main point should each be around 5 minutes?
- About me
- [[About me]]
- LYT PM, help with things like OFS and IDV pro
- Also have been working on making highly customized obsidian digital gardens like i am with quartz right now
- Make videos and resources on Obsidian to implement different pkm, productivity, or life design practices into obsidian
- I help (usv landing page target audience)
- Why do I use Obsidian?
- [[Digital Self-Actualization]]
- Exploring digital universe
- [ ] add challenges?
- like most people in LYT, i am interested in a lot of stuff
- amplified by neurodiversity
- Process heavy that are personalized for my needs to maintain this life operating system
- Should not feel like a chore and should be fun
- External systems are super important to me [[Externalize and offload as much as possible]]
- What am I presenting?
- My [[Digital Galaxy]]
- Overview of my personal life operating system in Obsidian
- Extended version of [[Ultimate Starter Vault]]
- Pillars of pkm, productivity, life design
- Is undoubtedly more complex in functionality and structure than the average person might need
- The relevant plugins I use
- Tech background lets me be comfortable with it
- Workflows
- What are things people should know before I start?
- Further learning for people interested
- Fully public documentation on my published notes [[USV Documentation]]
- Can see the different books and other resources I've learned from to create this vault
- Ask questions in the chat, won't be looking but trusting that Keaton will let me know if anything is relevant
- I do not use Obsidian for everything
- Will also mention other apps that I use
- Systems in my vault
- Main components of a system
- Inputs
- Information and ideas that come from yourself or the world
- Go into detail later on when I talk about PKM
- Parts
- Create different components of a system with their own unique characteristics
- [[Note types]]
- Process
- How parts manipulate inputs
- Outputs
- Purpose of the system, end results
- Feedback loops
- For maintenance and improvement of the system
- Two main systems
- [[Digital life solar systems]]
- life design
- productivity
- [[Digital Interstellar Medium]]
- pkm
- Translation
- Parts
- [[Note types]]
- [[My metadata philosophy]]
- Processes
- [[USV Workflows]]
- Can be kanban-based (inputs) or idea-based (growing notes)
- Most important plugin for this is [[Metadata Menu Plugin]]
- Status helps keep track of stage of the process or idea growth
- Multi-select
- Properties are what make each note type unique and integrated into the rest of the system
- Supercharged links plugin for easily seeing the type
- To dynamically organize and access these notes, I have a folder note
- Dataview to show, different views to see them depending on the use case
- [[USV and Life Design]]
- [[My Alignment Philosophy]]
- Vision board
- A quick reminder i visit every day
- Useful for seeing what i'm currently working on in a current timeframe
- find it helpful for having everything connected when planning what i'm going to do during a periodic review
- weekly review ? can see my current monthly goals, trusting that in my monthly review i already made sure my monthly goals were aligned with my weekly
- Dataview queries that account for what the day is
- Show related metadata
- Minimal cards CSS
- Based on ali abdaal's life management system and Cal Newport's idea of multiscale planning
- [[Wheel of life]]
- Just use obsidian charts
- [[Periodic reviews]]
- Now that I have a rough vision, how do I work towards it?
- [[USV and Productivity]]
- Getting things done methodology
- Inbox
- Actual inbox or today so see it ASAP
- Categories for tasks
- Central inbox, just use Akiflow for that. Whenever I create a new project I plan out my tasks in Obsidian but then add them to Akiflow for actual execution
- & Applying scrum principles of iteration to adapt to unexpected circumstances, instead of having a super elaborate plan
- ! Example
- Quarterly goal
- Vtuber
- Has all information related
- Had a rough 12 week plan for it, but didn't follow through as I took priority on newer projects like LYT blog and
- But recently in June started [[buildspace s5]], so made a monthly goal note
- Have a weekly project to narrow down what I want to do in a week
- In periodic reviews, update my ongoing responsibilities based on my availability
- Tasks I need to do in the week are created in akiflow for that project
- Every day I set up my time blocks and move them in
- [[USV and Personal Knowledge Management]]
- Learning
- Zettelkasten
- [[Fleeting Notes]]
- Fleeting Notes
- Greenhouse seedlings
- [[Literature notes]]
- [[Conceptual notes]]
- Usually don't tag them all, but I want to be conscious of them then to connect them with a certain stage then I can
- Example
- [[Ecological Psychology]]
- [ ] Explain what it is
- [ ] Clarify my relevant use case
- See how it can be used to enhance my problem solving and learning
- Create more powerful learning experiences that is not purely explicit instruction, like lean forward principles of LYT
- This is used in videos and other stuff
- Input note process
- Conversational podcasts
- More passive to scope out the subject and things I would need to learn
- Didn't understand words like affordances, constraints, fully, needed nuance
- For the terms that kept coming up and I felt were important, I made notes on them and slowly added on the different characteristics mentioned throughout these podcasts to slowly establish the mental model
- Watched 2 hour video of his summary of a textbook
- From there, was able to actively take notes
- Paraphrase, dumping anything I found relevant to my use case, which i used as a filter
- [[Learn something new by connecting it to something that you already know]]
- [[Awakening from the meaning crisis]]
- Used [[Note-making]] principles to compare and build off the ideas there
- [ ] insert example
- So now I had a dump of ideas and related notes from this video, just had to spend time moving them to populate the skeleton notes i made prior and connect them
- leads me to the MOC i have on ecological psychology today
- even if i may not refer to the ideas for a while, when i did a podcast with my good friend aidan as he introduced his brother to ecological psychology, i was able to quickly revisit the note and re-prime my brain of the ideas
- Okay, now that we have some new sparks or ideas we can explore, how do we create our own ?
- Creativity
- For more top-down thinking for a certain outcome, I have a brainstorm note to help me mold these ideas
- I don't use maps of content because I feel those are more for mapping a topic, and can be used in seedling notes. These are more tailored towards a specific output
- [[Make Online Friends. It Will Change Your Life.]]
- [[My writing workflow example]]
- Was able to share this 80% done version and found it very helpful
- Can tie it in with my digital self-actualization branding in the future
- Productivity
- based on actionability like [[PARA Method]] but on steroids as it is organized with the different types of notes part of life design and productivity
- [[Information actionability hierarchy]]
- Link the notes to the most actionable thing
- Go back to usv and productivity example
- When I am done this project and do my reflection, I will move or link the information inside to where it is appropriate
- Usually just stays inside though
- QnA
