Break it down into branches and sub-ideas for further elaboration %% - How Does Self-Learning Relate to Self-Actualization? - they both have self in the name XD - [[Self-learning]] - Plato's cave analogy, Anagoge - Self-learning isn't about just learning about new skills for the sake of achieving some goal or understanding a new topic, the process is just as fulfilling. it's a journey of personal discovery that only unfolds through the experiences you have - ? to self-actualize you need to have an environment that supports it - More specifically in digital self-actualization - ![[Self-learning#Notes]] - We are living in an age of information abundance - Before you were restricted in knowledge based on where you lived - how good your library was, what school you attended - But now, we have unparalleled access to the world's information - Thought leaders - Books compiled from decades of someone's life work - And to supercharge this, we have tools like AI to make this powerful - But the problem is, we have the opportunities, we have the tools, we just need to know how to bridge the gap and do it ourselves - This is where learning how to self-learn is powerful - Help better equip you for this lifelong journey of self-actualization - Self-actualization is a journey uniquely personal to us, but there is a low chance you can learn and prepare for this journey through commodified paths - need to learn to be self-sufficient at evolving yourself - if we only learn things we are told to, we are not able to exercise our own personal agency for realizing our own unique potential - Strategies And Tools For Self-Learning Using The Internet: - QUEST, The Inverted Learning Pyramid (YT, podcasts, and popular science books to academic articles), Obsidian, Generative AI, Anki) - NotebookLM has been super fast at helping me understand things - One of the big questions when creating a startup is equity split - How can you fairly give people what they deserve when there's so much uncertainty? - do you split it evently? what if things change and people have to leave or work less hours? - how do you keep track of all of this? - what i did, just gave it a book, and asked it to create their podcast feature - was able to continue asking it questions, and from there i created my own personal outline on what i think we should do - gave it to my friend who's the founder, and we were able to tweak it - % Personalized assistants through AI - Go beyond the default prompting you see people do - You can fine-tune it through your notes to make it a specific expert based on your own knowledge and perspective as well - In Obsidian I have notes on what I learned and believe is what makes for a good youtube intro and title from in-depth interviews with successful youtube strategists - If I were to simply ask AI to help me create or rate my titles, it would give generic answers - but if you make it see things through the lens of one of these experts, they can be a really powerful consultant - Self-Learning Projects were both doing + how passion/motivation plays a role in them since we have so many interests - Coding - Used it to self-learn web development which helped me get my first internships - Now i'm using it to create an app - Didn't know anything before about the technology I was using, but I've been able to jump between the three AI tools of GPT, Claude, and Github Copilot to learn and create at unparalleled speeds - Their ability to instantly resurface relevant solutions to your problems, and being able to also explain how it helps, makes the knowledge search process so much easier - Software development is all about problem solving - You continuously face new problems, whether it be create new features, or fixing bugs, and AI can help you solve it much faster - no need to reinvent the wheel, just need to quickly find out how to do so - **can focus on generating your own unique value** - Claude project that describes some context into what I'm doing - what technologies i'm working with, what kind of app i'm making - then in my chat i share the specific problem i'm trying to solve - will give me functioning code i can copy paste and modify - After Socrates - Joined learning - Self-learning can also go so far - [[Socratic dialogue]] - adopting other people's perspectives so you can see into reality more - Have found this to be a huge benefit in almost all learning endeavors - Our writing club - When I started learning front end development for the first time - During my first internship, got to learn alongside a fellow intern - how passion - ADHD, just use what I end up being most stimulated by at the time - one of biggest problems we face is executive dysfunction - hard to find motivation for things, even if we find them really important to our survival like eating or brushing our teeth. - When I was first making this app, I was laser focused for 2 and a half days. Outside of eating and chores, it would be all I did. - Now, definitely not sustainable, but it highlights how much effortless and engaging self-learning can be when it's something you find intrinsically motivating - youtube has taken a backburner unfortunately XD ## Organized Ideas %% A place to start your rough (or maybe even final) draft.
