## Brainstorming
### Topic
%%What is the big idea you're thinking about? Why are you writing this? %%
### References
%%Are there any existing notes, resources, or experiences that come to mind related to the topic? For each thing, why is it related and how can it be helpful? %%
### Brain Dump
%%
Write out any other thoughts that come to mind, then create a cognitive scaffolding that combines your references and brain dump.
Break it down into branches and sub-ideas for further elaboration %%
- How Does Self-Learning Relate to Self-Actualization?
- they both have self in the name XD
- [[Self-learning]]
- Plato's cave analogy, Anagoge
- Self-learning isn't about just learning about new skills for the sake of achieving some goal or understanding a new topic, the process is just as fulfilling. it's a journey of personal discovery that only unfolds through the experiences you have
- ? to self-actualize you need to have an environment that supports it
- More specifically in digital self-actualization
- ![[Self-learning#Notes]]
- We are living in an age of information abundance
- Before you were restricted in knowledge based on where you lived - how good your library was, what school you attended
- But now, we have unparalleled access to the world's information
- Thought leaders
- Books compiled from decades of someone's life work
- And to supercharge this, we have tools like AI to make this powerful
- But the problem is, we have the opportunities, we have the tools, we just need to know how to bridge the gap and do it ourselves
- This is where learning how to self-learn is powerful
- Help better equip you for this lifelong journey of self-actualization
- Self-actualization is a journey uniquely personal to us, but there is a low chance you can learn and prepare for this journey through commodified paths
- need to learn to be self-sufficient at evolving yourself
- if we only learn things we are told to, we are not able to exercise our own personal agency for realizing our own unique potential
- Strategies And Tools For Self-Learning Using The Internet:
- QUEST, The Inverted Learning Pyramid (YT, podcasts, and popular science books to academic articles), Obsidian, Generative AI, Anki)
- NotebookLM has been super fast at helping me understand things
- One of the big questions when creating a startup is equity split
- How can you fairly give people what they deserve when there's so much uncertainty?
- do you split it evently? what if things change and people have to leave or work less hours?
- how do you keep track of all of this?
- what i did, just gave it a book, and asked it to create their podcast feature
- was able to continue asking it questions, and from there i created my own personal outline on what i think we should do
- gave it to my friend who's the founder, and we were able to tweak it
- % Personalized assistants through AI
- Go beyond the default prompting you see people do
- You can fine-tune it through your notes to make it a specific expert based on your own knowledge and perspective as well
- In Obsidian I have notes on what I learned and believe is what makes for a good youtube intro and title from in-depth interviews with successful youtube strategists
- If I were to simply ask AI to help me create or rate my titles, it would give generic answers
- but if you make it see things through the lens of one of these experts, they can be a really powerful consultant
- Self-Learning Projects were both doing + how passion/motivation plays a role in them since we have so many interests
- Coding
- Used it to self-learn web development which helped me get my first internships
- Now i'm using it to create an app
- Didn't know anything before about the technology I was using, but I've been able to jump between the three AI tools of GPT, Claude, and Github Copilot to learn and create at unparalleled speeds
- Their ability to instantly resurface relevant solutions to your problems, and being able to also explain how it helps, makes the knowledge search process so much easier
- Software development is all about problem solving
- You continuously face new problems, whether it be create new features, or fixing bugs, and AI can help you solve it much faster
- no need to reinvent the wheel, just need to quickly find out how to do so
- **can focus on generating your own unique value**
- Claude project that describes some context into what I'm doing
- what technologies i'm working with, what kind of app i'm making
- then in my chat i share the specific problem i'm trying to solve
- will give me functioning code i can copy paste and modify
- After Socrates
- Joined learning
- Self-learning can also go so far
- [[Socratic dialogue]]
- adopting other people's perspectives so you can see into reality more
- Have found this to be a huge benefit in almost all learning endeavors
- Our writing club
- When I started learning front end development for the first time
- During my first internship, got to learn alongside a fellow intern
- how passion
- ADHD, just use what I end up being most stimulated by at the time
- one of biggest problems we face is executive dysfunction
- hard to find motivation for things, even if we find them really important to our survival like eating or brushing our teeth.
- When I was first making this app, I was laser focused for 2 and a half days. Outside of eating and chores, it would be all I did.
- Now, definitely not sustainable, but it highlights how much effortless and engaging self-learning can be when it's something you find intrinsically motivating
- youtube has taken a backburner unfortunately XD
