Welcome to Weekly Wonderings, a newsletter exploring Digital Self-Actualization,
> the synthesis of digital tools, life management frameworks, and humanistic philosophies to realize your meaningful potential
I have a lot of stuff cooking up and I need your help with the plating and final touches π
Here's a quick galactic overview:
- Help me expose my Obsidian vault π±

## Help me expose my Obsidian vault π±
Although I already publicly show 2600+ notes online at https://notes.johnmavrick.com, I'm planning my next video to be a comprehensive tour of my Obsidian vault π
With that in mind, I'd like to ask one question:
*What is one thing you would like me to go over and showcase?*
[[2024 Second Brain Tour]]
[[My Second Brain Setup for 2024]]
## The power of a digital galaxy π
As I continue to integrate my galactic aesthetic with the idea of [[Digital Self-Actualization]], I'm trying to creatively illustrate the benefit of having a private place like Obsidian to store your ideas and manage your life. Here is what I have so far:
[[Digital Galaxy]]
What do you think?
- Does this analogy better showcase the potential of Obsidian?
- Do the images help paint the picture better?
- What would you like me to elaborate on?
I would love to hear your thoughts π
## Fly faster through my published notes π
I've been spending A LOT of time improving the user experience and navigation for my 2600+ notes in my digital galaxy:
- I'm working on making the links in the frontmatter of the note clickable. Sometimes you might see it clickable in the frontmatter itself, sometimes it's clickable with the tabs. Huge shout
- I've updated my [welcome page](https://notes.johnmavrick.com) to be easier to follow by making the flow smoother
- I've added queries to show what books I have recently read and taken notes on:
- [[My Books (By Created Date)]]
- [[My Book Applications (By Created Date)]]
- I've recently added [[What I am up to now]], which automatically updates and displays the active goals and projects i'm working on. This is based on [[My Alignment Philosophy]], my comprehensive life design system in Obsidian
If you've been taking the time exploring my vault, I hope the above changes make it more convenient π
## Levelling up your periodic reviews in Obsidian π
I always found the popular Calendar plugin in Obsidian to be limiting since it only lets you access daily and weekly notes.
But recently I've downloaded and set up the Journals Plugin which lets me also quickly access higher-order reviews like monthly, quarterly, and yearly!

You can learn more about it by checking out my post on X:

## My new shining stars
*A place to share the new stars and constellations inside my digital galaxy*
I've been on a reading spree to better navigate my current situation highlighted in [[My story, why im grateful for all of you, and my plans for the future]], and so far I've found immense clarity by taking notes on the following books:
[[The Pathless Path Application]] for embracing the career uncertainty that comes with following your intrinsic motivations and curiosities:
> On the pathless path, the goal is not to find a job, make money, build a business, or achieve any other metric. Itβs to actively and consciously search for the work that you want to keep doing.
[[Slow Productivity Application]] for further adopting a humanistic approach to productivity and self-actualization
> I have two goals for this book. The first is focused: to help as many people as possible free themselves from the dehumanizing grip of pseudo-productivity. As I noted in the introduction, not everyone has access to this outcome. The philosophy I developed is meant primarily for those who engage in skilled labor with significant amounts of autonomy. This target audience covers large swaths of the knowledge sector, including most freelancers, solopreneurs, and small-business owners, as well as those in fields like academia, where great freedom is afforded in how you choose and organize your efforts.
[[ADHD 2.0 Application]] for better understanding my recent ADHD diagnosis:
> ADHD was totally misunderstood for so very, very long. Tragically, terribly misunderstood. This led to the sadistic and systematic betrayal of innocent children, punishing them for what they could not control, and the wholesale wasting of the talent of generations of adults.
Expect cool videos or writings using those ideas soon!
Some rabbit holes I've been diving into have been:
- [[How to be a credible creator]]
As I continue exploring what it takes to be an educational Vtuber, I've made a Twitter thread summarizing my takeaways from one who already has been sharing lectures to their fans.
You can read the flattened tweet https://notes.johnmavrick.com/My+Outputs/My+Writings/%E2%9C%8F+How+I'm+planning+on+becoming+an+educational+Vtuber
## Gain exclusive community benefits π€©
My goal is for a build a sustainable and human-focused form of financial support that lets me focus less on the business side of my personal brand, and more on the impact/community side.
Right now I've created a Patreon at https://patreon.com/johnmavrick and for only $3.50 USD/month, you can become a stargazer to gain exclusive benefits like:
- Early and ad-free video previews
- Priority support
- Exclusive community roles and channels
- Influence over my future content
But I want to add more benefits to make it a no-brainer subscription so I want to hear what you would want π€©
