Welcome to _Weekly Wondering_, a sacred time where I share the resonating links, reflections and learnings from my past week to influence your next one ;)
### **✨** In My Life
If you’ve signed up from my Obsidian content, I’ve just been in the works of renovating my own vault, more on that later.
The links this week seem to all fall under positive psychology, whether it be scientific claims, personal anecdotes, or rooted beliefs.

🧭 **Unleashing and pursuing your inner passions and values**
It’s saddening to hear the people around me unfulfilled and uncertain about their life, and I was no exception with my occasional bouts of [mortality salience](https://dictionary.apa.org/mortality-salience). A possible antidote to this feeling can be found in [Life Crafting](https://www.readcube.com/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.02778), the mixture of positive psychology and goal setting to utilize your strengths and find value in life. The end features a chart of prompts to help you kickstart your own craft :)
🖥️ **Technology’s impact on life immersion and social relationships**
[[Dangers of Social Media]]
Apps and software help provide convenience in our day-to-day life, but at what cost? In [I Used to Be a Human Being](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2016/09/andrew-sullivan-my-distraction-sickness-and-yours.html), Andrew Sullivan explores the isolating and deadening qualities of modern technology through vulnerable reflections and harsh truths. Being someone who tries to be as productive as possible by even watching shows at 2-3x speed, this really made me re-evaluate my sacrifice of experience for efficiency.
💪 **Self-Motivation >>>**
I began watching more [[@David Goggins]] in hopes of internalizing his sheer self-discipline and thirst for life. Before I start my next work session, I watch a quick YouTube short of his ([example](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KzFQmYoh62k)) to realign my mindset, but after watching [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lre-OpA-utU), I might have to rethink my reliance on external motivation. Soon after, I put his ideology into practice and went for a run without any music (which I recommend you to do as well!).
### **🚀 Experiences to Learn From**
🥅 **Goal Setting**
I’m about to be kicked out of my tough love group for failing to meet my goals. Although the extra accountability and environment were useful, I found it hard to uphold my commitments on top of the new projects and ideas that emerged throughout the week. Sure the goals I set were important, but new opportunities like sponsorships and product creation were much more valuable. **Always prioritize more rewarding and enticing opportunities, even if it means breaking former commitments.**
🧠 **Second Brain Revamping**
After a year of personal knowledge management, I’ve finally decided to revamp my systems, and am planning on making videos and downloadable vaults to share my new workflows. Whether it be managing projects, notes, ideas, or resources, I’ll soon be equipped with all possible PKM needs 😎 **Be sure to do maintenance on your own systems** or to subscribe to [my other socials](https://linktr.ee/johnmavrick) to copy mine hehe
