I want to build the best Obsidian mobile companion app to help people effortlessly capture their thoughts and ideas.
Using state of the art AI models, we can drastically the way we capture our thoughts:
- Effortlessly speak to your phone and get human-level transcription accuracy with multi-lingual support (OpenAI Whisper V3)
- Transform messy thoughts into cleaned and summarized outputs (Gemini)
- Automatically title and format unstructured thoughts typed out
Now I'm excited to announce that we're starting the pre-beta testing period for this app, Goldfish Notes, by offering you **unlimited free usage** with these AI features.
If this is your first time hearing about this app, I've recorded some videos to show [what the recording process](https://youtube.com/shorts/jLM5yo-kOoo?feature=share) and the [Obsidian syncing process](https://johnmavrick.neetorecord.com/watch/6b4e8766d2a3ffaf8146) looks like.
I started working on this to make it easy to continue adding my personal insights and creative ideas into my second brain in Obsidian, even when not using it. And so far I've experienced quite a few benefits:
- **I remember my shower thoughts. π** Literally β mid-shower I used the app to capture a sudden solution to a coding problem I was stuck on. When I re-listened to the audio it transcribed, I honestly couldn't even understand what I was saying amidst the sounds of the shower and music playing, but Goldfish was able to transcribe it with near-perfect accuracy π€―
- **I journal more frequently and expressively.π€** Instead of typing out my thoughts, speaking my reflections out loud in a conversational tone helps me be more in-tune with myself, leading to more nuanced journals. Whether it be micro-journalling after each time block, or doing a mega-dump at the end of the day, I can effortlessly open the app and voice my thoughts and reflections. Then, in Obsidian, I can quickly sync my notes and transfer them to my daily note journal. Usually, I copy-paste the cleaned bullet-list summary it generates, but if I felt something was filtered out, I could rediscover it by looking at the original transcript.
Eventually, we'll do an open beta period, but we still need to ensure we polish the user experience with a smaller group.
We also do not have the funds to cover unlimited AI usage for a lot of people π
During this time, you will have free and unlimited usage.
The first wave of beta testers will get access to the app by February 21st.
If you are accepted, we will email you further details, grant you access to the app, and give you next steps.
If this sounds interesting, [apply to be a tester here](https://forms.gle/FL6yZVQGEspjFhDz5).
I hope you can find as much value in the app as I currently do π
There are still some minor bugs to fix, but having a way to easily capture my thoughts throughout the day has been helpful:
and I'm excited to share it with you :)
You can use it for free, just feel free to sign up
It should be fixed, and we will be sending invites by the end of next week as we prepare the onboarding process.
