## Content I'm afraid of the lack of individuality caused by social media’s influence on my generation. People are becoming carbon copies of each other thanks to having similar feeds and content recommendations provided by the algorithm. At times, I genuinely can’t tell a difference between people’s profiles on dating apps. The average Asian girl's profile only highlights socially accepted interests in order to have more matches in the dating pool. Bubble tea, VALORANT, anime, K-pop. The same eyelash extensions, highlighted and wavy hair, and sense of fashion. I’m sure there are some who genuinely do enjoy the above regardless of its social benefits, but what are the chances that they would adopt such interests if it weren’t for social media implanting it in their minds? Rarely do I see any hint of their personal aspirations or what sets them apart, as if they only live for the social validation and acceptance of others. The societal influence of their digital environment has imposed a cookie-cutter lifestyle they believe they must follow in order to be noticed and valued. Influencers like Andrew Tate who promote toxic lifestyles and hedonistic values are corrupting minds. As people agree with his fundamental opinions, they also end up believing ones that are more subjective and inhumane. People are being mindless slaves to the influencers they follow and the content they consume. People no longer admire the effortful analysis and questioning that reading and English provides, and instead just prefer values to be shoved down their throats. Instead of thinking for themselves, they don’t think at all. And they can’t even escape. Friends, classmates, and everyone else is under the same influence. Even if you try to change your behaviour and content consumption, your physical environment only lures you back. It’s the main reason why I started my newsletter, to start my new second channel. Not only is it an attempt to be a differing voice, but it’s also a tool to keep my own individuality grounded. People I hold close to me are succumbing to this modern conformity, and it’s leading to heartbreaking stories and experiences that defy human decency and morality. These irrelevant values are acting as distractions to the neglected issues that truly matter to them Their true self and desires continue to be buried six feet underground and are given no room to breathe.
