## Reflection **Satisfied?** - Kind of procrastinated and took longer than expected due to setting up recording on Mac, but glad I was able to record it for the lols **Improvements and solutions learned for the future**: - Can't use - Is it worth continuing to use things like Screen Studio if I need a more robust editing style? Maybe I can just use it for an alternative loom? ## Progress Packaging - [x] Think of possible titles and thumbnail, run through thumbnail principles and checklist - [x] Think of a pair as you create the video Video outline - [x] Hook satisfies title and thumbnail - [x] Structure planned out Video editing - [x] Recut to trim for Descript - [x] Descript - [x] Video Edit - [x] Watched through it once - [x] Thumbnail - [x] Description - [x] Share on YouTube post, Twitter, and Discord - [x] Share on next newsletter ## Weekly Progress ```button name Add New Weekly Progress type command action QuickAdd: Insert Project Weekly Progress Addon ``` %% Weekly Progress Start %% ### [[2024-W13]] #### W13 Plan `INPUT[textArea(placeholder(Plan)):P-W13]` #### W13 Reflection `INPUT[textArea(placeholder(Reflection)):R-W13]` ## Notes ### Twitter ### Youtube ### Newsletter - [[Weekly Wondering 2024-W13]] ## Details ### Packaging ### Title The MOST Simple Minimalist Obsidian Setup A Simple and Effective Minimalist Obsidian Setup Simplify Obsidian With An Efective Minimalist Setup Simplify Obsidian With This Ideal Minimalist Setup Obsidian Minimalist Setup: Only The Essentials Obsidian Minimalist Setup: The Only Crucial Essentials **What emotion are you trying to convey?** - Curiosity - Ease ### Thumbnail - What transition can I use? - Lots of notes to just one just like me restarting my vault? - What symbolizes complexity? - Messy brain to single logo? - No transition ### Description Get the ultimate minimalist vault: https://notes.johnmavrick.com/Ultimate ### Tags n/a ## Outline ### Intro **Hook** [[Ultimate Minimalist Vault Slides]] **Brief outline of topics covered:** I think it's important to try and incorporate minimalism in the most customizable part of Obsidian, the plugins. ### Content #### Plugins So, let's first go to my community plugins list your first thought might be to have a plugin like "Hider" that can hide different parts of your vault to only have what you use. You do have a fair point, but there was a video I watched from this buddhist monk about why they shave their heads that changed my mind. When you have hair, you give yourself more responsibilities and things to think about - Have to worry about how you're going to style it to look good, - Worry about shampooing to keep it clean - Buying the right products for hair maintenance By having more plugins, we experience something similar. - Have to worry about developers maintaining the plugins, - Having to worry about new updates that can disrupt the functionality you have in your vault - Have to worry about shiny new object syndrome, where we are unsatisfied with the plugins we have, trying to look for wait for new ones This means less time spent on using Obsidian and taking notes. This is why I have no community plugins installed, and have kept it to the core Obsidian plugins enabled by default. Once the functionality of our vault is minimalist, we can now turn to the appearance. #### Themes - But wait, as you've been seeing the default them the whole time you might be screaming at me through the screen telling there's a literal minimal theme! - Why not use that? it's in the name? it's minimalist! - you have a good point, but let's take the same reasoning for plugins into account - Why do we need to put on new decorations in our vault? - Are our ideas not beautiful themselves? - This is why I keep it default And now, we've covered everything, and can finally consider the actual content of the vault #### Folders - the cognitive containers we put our thoughts in. in the minimalist vault, we need to ensure that these folders have meaning - you're probably familiar with folder structures like PARA method where you store based on actionability to keep what's important at the top of your mind - Projects folder for things you're working on - Areas folder for responsibilities in your life - Resources folder for potentially useful ideas - And Archives folder for things you no longer need - But there's also folder structures like the ACE method where you organize by the type of context notes are in - Atlas for knowledge - Calendar for time-based - Efforts for output based - But think about it. What is our main goal in Obsidian? - And if you distill the essence of what all these notes contain, they all contain idea. So why should we differentiate them? - This is why in the Ultimate Starter Vault, I have decided to not use any of these folders, and just use the root file system. Now that we have the foundation of our notes figured out, what about the notes themselves? #### Notes Now, the foundation of our ideas. The notes themselves. one note only but what if you had 1 million notes? im going to ask you, is that essential? i think It's subjective but I would say no. instead I would want to have as little words as possible which leads me to this vault this is perfection check out vault in description ### Conclusion What are some relevant references or links? - [[My Ultimate Minimalist Vault]]
