*Me briefly explaining my rationale as I wrote [[Understanding PKM]]*
I hit a mental squeeze point
But a mental squeeze point is for ideas, not for outcomes.
As I continue to improve the documentation for USV, I have to deeply understand it so I can guide people through depending on their potential use cases:
- Topic was to understand why PKM exists in the first place and how I can use this for explaining my USV
- Understand PKM
- Understand USV
- Connect the two
- References
- USV documentation
- Existing PKM frameworks as outlined in [[Learn PKM and note-taking methodology (Preview)]]
- Braindump
- How could I structure this?
- If someone just bought my product, they bought it for a reason or helping with a specific use case
- My goal is to identify those reasons and then help them guide towards how they can use it
- But then if you had highly variable stages for each one, it would be a lot to try and understand
- So I had to look at three things:
- Favorite mental model has recently been [[The Golden Circle]]
- Why, what, how
- Why is the reasons people use PKM
- What would their PKM look like
- How do they use it
- Existing PKM use cases
- Learning with traditional note-taking
- Creativity with the Zettelkasten and LYT
- BASB for managing information
- Narrowed it down to understanding, creativity, and productivity
- Existing PKM organization structures
- Zettelkasten note types
- ACE
- PARA
- Not as much overlap, but helped a bit with clarifying how this works as they are the foundation of how it is done
- Existing PKM processes
- [[Progression of idea originality]]
- CODE
- ARC
- rough process:
- input
- transformation
- output
- For each I:
- Set up headers based on the important parts of the why, what, how
- why
- what (managing)
- process
- started dumping what I thought initially
- Then started exploring the notes I had mentioned in references to help build off of it
- And now started connecting it all together
- And now I just need to apply it by sketching it into diagrams, been learning excalidraw recently
- Outputs
- Now I can use this as a north star for my upcoming actions
- USV documentation note: [[USV and Personal Knowledge Management]] to help people understand the core knowledge processes in the vault
- The "end in mind" when doing something
- Use it as the main benefits and paths I will show when doing my [[My Second Brain Setup for 2024]] video
- Can refer to it when I make more beginner-friendly videos on [[John Mavrick Wanders]] channel for the benefits of Obsidian/PKM
