[[Second Brains and ADHD Script]] Bryan Jenks is a valuable creator in this intersection. He was my intro to Obsidian as I found his workflows powerful prior to [[Getting diagnosed with ADHD]], but I guess I can see why 😅 What makes an ADHD-friendly system? - Customizable to allow people to find enjoyment in their system - Inattention - Guardrails - Helps narrow the [[Constraints]] you have in your environments so you can just focus on your goal - Less distractions - Antifragile - Even neurodiversity has nuances so I can't give a one-size-fits-all solution - Constraints-led approach - Participatory knowing is one of most deepest forms of cognition - This is where you best understand On [[2024-04-20]] I finished making fleeting notes and realized: - Cool to see how everything I've been consuming is being combined together due related to Awakening, Ecological approach by Danny, ADHD and its relation with productivity, and one-off articles - Maybe this is why [[Ecological Psychology]] sounds to interesting for us? Because it naturally taps into participatory knowing in a world where only propositional knowing is favored most? [[Self-learning]] is the exact opposite of traditional education as you have complete freedom on what you focus your attention on and how you apply it to your life - But is there something beyond neurodiversity? Or is it simply just due to the increase in [[Self-determination theory]] principles + stimulation? - But where can this lead someone if they fall off the traditional path beyond just doing the same thing i am doing? does this tap into the potentials of the [[Digital Universe]] [[Keaton]] in [[Writing Original Works LYT Workshop]]: - > The way my ADHD mind works, it's a lot easier for me to add everything I can think of that's related to what I'm working on and pare it back to what it needs to be. Otherwise, if it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind - I always question how far over-collecting can be, but in some cases it is the only way those ideas can be remembered 🥲 The elaboration helped, I appreciate it :) My initial assumption is that attraction to novelty in neurodiverse brains cause us to attend to everything, and inattention prevents us from “filtering” by focusing on only a select few relevant points? So this then supports the idea of enhanced creativity under neurodiversity, but at the expense of facing overwhelm easier. Through PKM systems, we have a chance to revisit and shape these ideas to eventually find out what is relevant to us thanks to strategies like “cluster to clarify”. ## Benefits ![[The Extended Mind#^qyien0]] ## Solutions - Learn a lot just because you're highly curious, so Obsidian can help you collect that knowledge - [[Range Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World]] prone to being a [[Generalist]], and one of the most valuable things you can do is [[Making connections between notes]] ## [[Executive Dysfunction]] - Systems act as your guard rails to keep you in tact ## Stimulation - You get to personalize your learning experience - You need to make your PKM system fun ## Sources https://www.reddit.com/r/ObsidianMD/comments/16p63rs/adhd_and_neurospicy_folk_how_do_you_obsidian/ https://forum.obsidian.md/t/trying-to-find-a-good-setup-for-adhd/12218
