Ways that deeply engage us with [[Participatory knowing]] in defined environments, but can practically be transferrable to our lives as a whole.[^1]
One thing that it really reminds me of is Christian parables during mass. They're stories from a long time ago, told in a consistent fashion every year, that help us engage with the story and engage in inner transformation as we take away the life lessons that come from them.
In [[After Socrates]], the practices he gives us can be seen as rituals; although very specific and regimented, they aim to fundamentally alter the way we see the world.
It was really nice being able to see this connection of meaning with these practices, to the things that I feel like have been somewhat transformative in my life. There's an idea I think about where you can tell whether someone was raised Christian or not based on their values.
