Self-efficacy is the amount of [[Confidence]] we have towards our ability do something specific like a goal or task.
This isn't something general like confidence itself as a whole, but only in relation to something specific.
If we don't believe that we can do something, why would we? Self-efficacy helps us adopt a [[Growth Mindset]] that is capable of pushing ourself.
## Sources and cultivation
- [[Observational learning]] through vicarious experience
- We realize it is possible
- If we have the same required capabilities as the person we watched, we might even be able to just copy what they did to achieve it (ex. solving a riddle or logic puzzle instead of a bouldering problem)
- Personal mastery
- Provides a compounding effect
- [[Remember your previous wins and progress]]
- [[Motivation]] builds off of [[Success]]
- Positive self-talk
