My understanding of this [outlined rough philosophy](https://lemmy.ml/post/1172789):
## Less financial need
Instead of spending money on events and time in the city, you focus on building a home you enjoy through hobbies and environment.
Instead of climbing the corporate ladder, you enjoy a simple life that doesn't focus on wealth, accomplishments, or other western metrics of success.
It gives you a chance to detach from materialistic desires, helping you focus on personal growth and gratitude through [[Mindfulness]]
Simple living is okay for me since I mostly do things online and in my mind anyways:
- My work is online
- My learning is done online
- My relationships are mostly online
- My hobbies are not location dependent or are mostly online
There's so many avenues of growth and learning through cheap hobbies, and by living a simple life, you can spend less time worrying about your survival and more time doing the above.
In reality, some of your spending might be because of the non-simple lifestyle in the first place:

- By having a simple life filled with the things we enjoy, we are less likely to fall to [[Consumerism]]

### Benefits
- As a result, you can invest in new experiences rather than maintain a constant lifestyle in your life:
- Can do visits to big cities during less fun times (ex. Regina winter)
- Cheaper to raise a family
## Less stress
I think it provides the comfort of cozy games.
You focus on trying to live your ideal life.
