Tried searching up a post on Ideaverse Pro and came up with this:
- [Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/ObsidianMD/comments/165qkmx/an_obsidian_starter_kit_to_manage_your_whole_life/)
Comments emerged criticizing the need for such a robust PKM system:
> honestly it's nothing personal to Nick but i'm tired of these influencers making money from selling "life organization" when for most people this is a trap. you get sucked in and become another pkm-pervert. i think all those videos and templates etc should be come with a disclaimer saying "THIS IS AS A HOBBY". in your life, when you encounter someone that is organized enough, has a good work/life balance, has their hobbies and interests, have no ideia what is pkm second brain bla bla bla. they have a computer and a phone that has their folders and stuff inside. they can click or search for something that they saved or wrote. that's why i prefer the concept of "digital garden", because it is explicitly saying that is a garden, that is something that you do for yourself, a hobby, and you CAN life without it.
- Of course you can be a functioning human without a system, but I think it can be much more than a hobby. for people with ADHD, it can provide a customized structure that can help them much more with traditional methods [[PKM and ADHD]]
> just an opinion ofc you can do whatever the fuck you want with your life, files, information.
> it's just a rant. I get quite irritated by how the world of work in late capitalism needs to invent professions that don't make much sense for people to be able to make some money. of course, all these influencers who talk about note taking are just trying to survive by doing something cool.
- You can see learning and creativity as a skill, and the LYT philosophy as a coach to help you improve at this skill. With all creatives as the potential market, I do not think this profession "makes much sense".
- People have problems, and some people can afford to pay others to help them with their problems. The issue of paywalled learning is when you pose it as the only solution to this problem.
In terms of the hypocrisy, trying to learn Obsidian by offering a 300+ notes vault:
> “learn how to deal with information anxiety” then bro proceeds to try to send me a folder with 300 notes
> “PROBLEM Too much information. Too easy to lose track of what's important. Too easy to consume and feel overwhelmed. Too often stuck creatively. Too easy to give up and watch YouTube.“
> Why do I need 300+ notes? Why are 300+ notes linked 1000+ times? How does any of this actually help someone?
- I do think the value proposition isn't marketed the best here as it is contradictory, since there was no suggestion the bigger picture of how it's connected through a learning path to PKM
