Thanks to people promising quick money online and the status games people play, social media has become more focused on the extrinsic measures rather than the intrinsic. In my case, I feel suppressed from expressing my true self in my YouTube channel in fear of stunting my algorithmic growth. As a result, I'm not able to easily explore other ideas that people don't subscribe to me for, or share unrefined ideas that are still in the process of development. It's ultimately my choice to conform to these perceptions on social media—YouTube can easily be a platform for pure authenticity. But when you're about to rely on it as your main source of income, it's hard to be as carefree. That's why I'm really happy I set up this [[Digital garden]] and more personal content outlets like [[My Weekly Wonderings Newsletter]]. It's a transparent way for sharing what I spend majority of my time on, since almost everything I do is supplemented by my second brain. Instead of only selectively showing appealing parts of me, it opens the door for people to learn more about my own raw learnings and philosophies in the chance that someone's in a situation where they greatly relate to my content. A small reminder that it's okay to be yourself, and an invitation to share your intellectual side with other kindred explorers ;)
