Inspired by Tiago Forte's four levels of search in [[Building a Second Brain]], but I think with the power of [[Obsidian]] there's a bit of difference: - [[#Search for direct keywords]] - [[#Browse from relevant notes through links]] - Following trains of thought using links and the graph view - Use AI semantic search like [[Smart Connections Plugin]] to find related notes - Can use pane to - See how to use in ## How #### Search for direct keywords To search note titles, you can open the quick switcher (Ctrl/Cmd+O) and type in the text you are looking for. For example, in [[My Outputs/My Brainstorms/My writing workflow]], I used the quick switcher for the key word "Writing" and came across my [[My Resources/My MOCs/Writing]] note. To search more properties of a note, you can use the search pane (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+F). Options include: - File: matching text in the note title - Line: matching text in the same paragraph (before the next new line) - Section: matching text under the same heading #### Browse from relevant notes through links Look through your vault through searching to see what notes already exist: - Do you have related resources? (ex. [[On Writing Well by William Zinsser]]) - Do you have related notes? (ex. [[My Resources/My MOCs/Writing]]) - Do you have previously made creations? (ex. my video on [[How I write using Obsidian]] From there, you can follow the links you made in the notes to revisit your previous trains of thought. #### Tags and Properties Tags indicate the type of note it is (ex. `#input`, `#thought`) Properties add more characteristics to our notes that differentiate it from the rest. Statuses indicate relevance and maturity. Ratings indicate the quality of the resource. The more properties, the more specific our search criteria can be. Through the power of search of [[Dataview Query]], we can instantaneously search through our notes based on these criteria. #### AI [[AI can help us find connections invisible to human cognition]] Using [[Smart Connections Plugin]], you can use the "Smart Connections Plugin" to find notes semantically related to the contents of a note or your input of choice. This lets us resurface notes even if our organization skills were poor or if we forgot about our notes. #### Serendipity Using the [[Smart Random Note Plugin]]
